Cooking

Cooking can be a bit daunting and a challenge at times when you are faced with a grocery store missing many of the options that you are used to (the grocery store can be intimidating to begin with due to the differences you will encounter).  You can choose to bring staples from the U.S., but with the airlines often only allowing 1 bag per person now, that room and weight might be needed for other things.  There are many substitutions you can make for products that you can’t find overseas.  Here a few good sites that offer solutions:

You aren’t going to find as many pre-packaged or prepared foods, so consider making things like brownies, cakes, popcorn, pancakes, maple syrup, Bisquick, cream of ____ soup from scratch.  A quick search of the internet will usually give you a good way to make these things.  The following websites are also great to search for recipes or come up with new ideas to keep cooking interesting.
