Stand Alone Site

After taking a bit of a hiatus from blogging over the past half of a year, it seems it is time to stop.  It was sort of an experiment time for me to see if I still felt a need to blog and for right now, I don’t.  I may blog again some day somewhere else, but for now, it is time to call an end to Married to a Baller.  It is still going to stay up for now as a stand alone site where women will hopefully get helpful information as they navigate the world of professional basketball wives.  I hope that others may happen upon it and glean some sort of helpful resources as well.

Right now I enjoy pointing other to articles, quotes and other bits of helpful information that have been a blessing in my life.  I feel I can accomplish that in a number of other ways:

My Twitter account- this is my new favorite outlet for recommending articles

My Pinterest boards- I hesitated to get into Pinterest but have found a lot of helpful information

My Facebook account- This is mostly an area for close family and friends to stay updated on each others lives.  it isn’t my favorite way of doing things, but I think I have found a healthier way of doing it than what I was doing before.

My Married to a Baller aStore- I am going to try and keep up with all my favorite products here.

Thank you again for reading, commenting and encouraging me.  I hope we can continue to be a part of each other’s journey in some way!

My Paper Lifesaver on Sale for Christmas!

Thanks to my brother, this site is up and running again.  I had no idea what was wrong with it (and was pretty sure I hadn’t done anything…usually it is my fault).  But I couldn’t post or comment or anything.  But he is a genius and fixed it right up!

My friend Ellen had offered to give away one of her My Paper Lifesaver’s to one of my readers, so I am glad that I can now offer that to you.  Plus if you don’t win, her binders are on sale for Christmas right now for only $16!

If you would like a My Paper Lifesaver leave a comment by Monday and I will use random.org to choose a winner :)

What I Like Wednesday: Witch Hazel

My sister-in-law’s friend is an awesome resource for green living.  When exchanging some information on green personal care products, she recommended trying witch hazel as an astringent.  Now I haven’t used an astringent since the high school days of Sea Breeze when I thought I should parch my skin dry to get rid of a little pimple. So I was a little hesitant about drying my skin out with any sort of toner.  But witch hazel is a winner!  I have been using T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel for the last two months or so (usually twice a day) and the bottle is about 1/2 of the way gone.  After it is finished, I am going to to give Thayer’s Witch Hazel with Rose Water a try as I have heard good things about it as well.

Then I Became a Mother by Robin Kramer

I am so excited to be able to promote another friend today.  My friend Robin that I have know for over a decade has just published her first book!  Robin has always been a talented writer and is now a published author of “Then I Became a Mother“.  I had the privilege of reading her book before the release and it was a joy to read.  Robin’s writing is not only beautiful and creative, but it will draw out so many inner thoughts and feelings you have had as a mother.  The premise of her book is to take you through what she now sees as her top advice to new moms now that she is a mom of three.  This is not a normal parenting book that is trying to give you ways to become a better parent though.  It will free you to relax and enjoy your children more, while laughing at the moments of motherhood that aren’t always so pretty.  This will be a book you want to recommend to your friends as well.

So go support Robin today by purchasing her book and also visit her blog at Pink Dryer Lint for more of Robin’s incredible writing!

Simply Relieved: My Paper Lifesaver

I have a lot of talented friends that are coming out with some new products.  So today I want to share one of those that I think is a great resource for being more organized at home: My Paper Lifesaver.  My friend Ellen came up with the concept of this binder as she juggled managing the home as a mom of 5 young children.  When she asked me to try it this summer, I new I would like it as soon as I opened it.  The concept of the folder goes right along with David Allen’s Getting Things Done system that I already employ.  But it gives you more immediate contact with those papers, receipts, forms to be filled out, coupons that you might not want to file away into a filing cabinet, etc.  It has helped me to clean up the clutter on my desk tremendously.

Ellen just launched her company Simply Relieved this week and you can purchase the My Paper Lifesaver binder on Facebook (like Simply Relieved on Facebook to get deals and tips from Ellen) or Etsy.  I highly recommend this product!

Summer 2012: York Photo

One company that I discovered this summer is York Photo, (even though I know they have been around a long time!).  They are always running great deals and their products are good quality.  If you click this link to sign up you will get 60 free 4×6 photos (it is my referral link, so I also get a $10 credit).  And today they are running a special on pillowcases and fleece blankets for 50% off!  We got my nephew a fleece blanket for his birthday and it turned out really sweet.  It would be a great gift for an upcoming birthday or Christmas (yes, I just mentioned Christmas shopping!).  Sign up for their e-mails and you will get all their daily deals delivered to you.

Summer 2012: Attempting Made-At-Home Products

One thing I decided to give a shot at this past summer was attempting some of my own homemade personal care products. A great website a friend sent me that gave me most of the recipes is Wellness Mama. I found tons of great ideas and have been slowly implementing many of them. Here are some of the products I tried making on my own:

All-purpose Cleaner
Laundry Detergent
Toothpaste
Deodorant
Bronzer

The recipes were all relatively easy and turned out pretty well. The bronzer was the only one that was a big flop for me. The two that I would make again are the all-purpose cleaner and the deodorant. It was fun to stretch myself and find some all-natural and cheap alternatives to purchasing products in the store!
