Spotlight Saturday: Clif Bar

One of the products that we have tried a lot of in our home are energy bars. Anyone who has ever tried to keep up with the caloric needs of a professional athlete knows it can be tough to get all the energy they need from whole foods. So although the goal of the basis of our diet is whole, unprocessed foods, we also supplement with energy bars. Life can happen at a rapid pace at times too, so there are moments when you just need to grab something quick. And for over 5 years, the thing for us to grab has been a Clif Bar.

We love these energy bars that are 70% organic and contain no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup (2 major things we try to avoid). And if you have ever tried to find a good tasting energy bar, you know it is tough, Clif Bars are actually really good. Joe’s favorite flavor is the Cool Mint Chocolate. These do not replace a meal, but are a supplement to an otherwise healthy diet. They also have a line for women called Luna Bars and a line for kids called ZBars. They are typically easy to find in a grocery store as well.

We love our Clif bars. I didn’t know there was a special line for women. Should I not be eating these then?

Catherine, I still like the Clif Bars. If you want something lower calorie though, the Luna bars are usually only around 180 calories:)

Ironic that you’d post about this today, because last week I picked up a few of the Zbars for The Boy to see if he’d like them, because I can keep one in my purse for games and errands, and he loved them. I was going to ask if you had tried them. LOL!

I also enjoy Larabars. http://www.larabar.com/ They are very tasty and filling.
