Before heading home I made an order for some new children’s books and we have been enjoying reading them this summer. The kids always have their favorites, but once a year I like to try and pick up a few new ones.
**Side Note: I usually do this when Westminster Bookstore has one of their really big sales. Although I would love for you to purchase books through the links I provide because Amazon gives me a small kickback, I have to share Westminster’s site with you for their great deals. Plus all of their books are trustworthy for us as far as sound doctrine.
So here are a few books we have been enjoying:
1. Sammy and His Shepherd: A chapter by chapter look at Psalm 23 told from the perspective of a young sheep, Sammy< who belongs to a loving Shepherd and meets another young sheep on the other side of the fence who doesn’t.
2. Dangerous Journey: The Story of Pilgrim’s Progress: A great children’s retelling of the wonderful book Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan.
3. Mighty Acts of God: A Family Bible Story Book: We enjoy both The Big Picture Story Bible and The Jesus Storybook Bible, but I got this one to change things up a bit to read at bedtime with the kids.
4. The Rag Doll and Over the Fence: Two cute books with sweet pictures that have a simple story and lesson to teach. Plus the authors are English and I just love reading English authors becuase they use words like “mummy” and “pram”.
Do you have any good summer reading to recommend?

I’ll come back with a more complete list, but a couple of TB’s favorites right now:
Follow the Line Around the World (http://www.amazon.com/Follow-Around-World-Laura-Ljungkvist/dp/0670063347/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311162166&sr=8-1) It’s actually a very simple book, but teaches a little about each country visited, including a trip to outer space.
Have You Filled a Bucket Today (http://www.amazon.com/Have-You-Filled-Bucket-Today/dp/1933916168/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311162251&sr=8-1): While not a Christian book, per se, we have used this one for nearly a year now to talk about the Golden Rule and how we should treat one another.
Thanks for the great ideas, ladies!
